This month, the nation’s capital will present its prettiest of pink as the cherry blossom trees reach their stunning annual blooms. Despite the sudden cooler temperatures and recent high winds, buds on the famed cherry trees around the Tidal Basin and D.C.'s nearby parks are poised and ready.
In light of the cool temperatures we’ve been seeing lately and are expected to keep seeing, both the National Park Service and the Washington Post‘s Capital Weather Gang have pushed back their peak bloom predictions to April 8-April 12. The gang has been carefully watching the peak bloom dates and is keeping us up to date. So far, they have pushed the peak bloom dates several times.
